Shanghai is the most populous city in China, and in the world. A leading global city, it is a center of business, culture, finance, media, fashion, technology and transport. At the mouth of the Yangzi River, and the East-West trade center from the 19th century until the 1930's, it is now again a leader - the busiest container port in the world and fast becoming a regional financial center. Shanghai has driving entrepreneurial dynamism and cosmopolitan flair. The skyscrapers of Pudong contrast with the fashionable colonial French Concession.s atmospheric streets full of shops and restaurants offering international cuisine and nightlife.
In town, you can visit the historic Bund, the Shanghai Museum, with its outstanding collections of Chinese art, and the 400-year-old Yu Gardens. Farther afield, you can visit Suzhou with its world-famous gardens; Hangzhou, home of the West Lake; and the unchanged river towns of neighboring Zhejiang province. You will also spend one week visiting other cities in China.
