G-MEO 2020 Highlights- ASP & ASF Programs

How We React to COVID-19 & New Business Development-Alternative Fall & Spring Semester Programs

By G-MEO Team, April 20th. 2021

G-MEO’s Alternative Semester programs were held in both Fall of 2020 and Spring of 2021. They are innovative study away programs for Chinese international students who cannot come back to the US. They had the chance to attend an in-person semester in Chengdu with courses, activities, career development opportunities, and student interest groups. For Fall, a total of 101 students from 7 universities attended, and 15 courses from 7 faculty members were offered. In the Spring, 91 students participated, and 15 of them did a part-time credit-bearing internship.

The success of these programs came from several sources. First, G-MEO’s Chengdu team worked hard to ensure program quality based on student evaluation results. The excellent faculty from local educational resources also contributed. Although travel restrictions prevented foreign teachers from coming to Chengdu, local Chinese universities were able to provide top-tier professors. Additionally, G-MEO’s internship network provided support from local partners. The campus-like experience was able to fulfill the students’ needs for in-person study and career development. Due to the success of these programs, G-MEO will hold the Alternative Fall Semester again in 2021, along with online and on-site Summer Sessions and virtual internship programs.
